COVID Vaccinations
We want to share information that we received from Skagit County Public Health.  The county has been offering vaccines for students 5-11 years old.  Vaccinations remain the safest and best protection against COVID-19 infection and serious health outcomes. You can find pediatric vaccine appointments via their website at www.skagitcounty.net/covidvaccine.  Skagit County Public Health is not requiring students who are fully vaccinated to quarantine after an exposure to an infectious person.

Parent Academy Ceremony
This week the district hosted a Parent Academy celebration.  More than 100 parents participated in the 6-week long program that gives families the resources they need to help their children be successful.  This wouldn’t have been possible without the Parent Teachers and the many staff members who facilitated this very beneficial program with our Mount Vernon families. 

MVHS Holiday Extravaganza
The Mount Vernon High School will be hosting a Holiday Extravaganza on December 16, 2021 at 7:00pm.  This event takes place at the McIntyre Hall and includes MVHS Choir, Mariachi, Band, Percussion, Orchestra, Folklorico Dance and Jazz.  This event “Pay as you wish” event  requires *Vaccine Card or Negative Covid Test”.  For more information, please use the following link:   https://mcintyrehall.org/event/mvhs-holiday-concert/

School Safety
As many of you know, the district had a couple of lockdown situations this week.  The district worked with law enforcement in navigating through these events.  We take the safety and security of our students and staff very seriously and will be sharing some more information with families via a video next week.  

Mariachi Festival
This past Friday the district hosted the Mariachi Festival at LaVenture Middle School.  This event showcased our middle and high school Mariachi and Folklorico students.  The event was a big success.  Former superintendent, Dr. Carl Bruner, presented two students, Marcela Mendoza and Kimberly Olvera, with a “Dr. Bruner Mariachi Scholarship.”  Skagit Valley Community College also presented Arleth Martinez Sanchez with a “Dr. Keegan SVC Mariachi Scholarship.”  I’m including a couple pictures from last week’s event.  
 
Mariachi plays with Mariachi Sol de Mexico
The district has another opportunity to support the MV Mariachi group, as they will be participating in the Mariachi Sol de Mexico event where the MV Mariachi will play alongside these award winning musicians.  Scheduled for Tuesday, December 14th in the Seattle Neptune Theater, find out more HERE.

Vacunas de COVID
Queremos compartir la información que recibimos de Salud Pública del Condado de Skagit. El condado ha estado ofreciendo vacunas para estudiantes de 5 a 11 años. Las vacunas siguen siendo la mejor y más segura protección contra la infección a COVID-19 y los efectos graves de salud. Puede encontrar citas para vacunas pediátricas a través de su sitio web en www.skagitcounty.net/covidvaccine. Salud Pública del Condado de Skagit no requiere que los estudiantes que estén completamente vacunados sean puestos en cuarentena después de una exposición a una persona infecciosa

Graduación de la academia de padres
Esta semana, el distrito organizó una celebración de la Academia de Padres. Más de 100 padres participaron en el programa de 6 semanas que brinda a las familias los recursos que necesitan para ayudar a sus hijos a tener éxito. Esto no hubiera sido posible sin los padres y maestros y los muchos miembros del personal que facilitaron este programa tan beneficioso con nuestras familias de Mount Vernon.

Extravaganza navideña de MVHS
La escuela preparatoria Mount Vernon organizará un espectáculo  de navidad el 16 de diciembre de 2021 a las 7:00 pm. Este evento se lleva a cabo en el McIntyre Hall e incluye Coro, Mariachi, Banda, Percusión, Orquesta, Danza Folklórica y Jazz de MVHS. Este evento "Pague lo que desee" requiere * Tarjeta de vacuna o Prueba Covid negativa ". Seguridad escolar
Como muchos de ustedes saben, el distrito tuvo un par de situaciones de encierro esta semana. El distrito trabajó con la policía para navegar a través de estos eventos. Nos tomamos muy en serio la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y personal y compartiremos más información con las familias a través de un video la próxima semana.

Festival de mariachis
El viernes pasado, el distrito organizó el Festival Mariachi en la Escuela secundaria LaVenture. Este evento mostró a nuestros estudiantes de Mariachi y Folklórico de secundaria y preparatoria. El evento fue un gran éxito. El ex superintendente, Dr. Carl Bruner, presentó a dos estudiantes, Marcela Mendoza y Kimberly Olvera, un “Dr.Bruner  Beca Mariachi ". Skagit Valley Community College también presentó a Arleth Martinez Sanchez con un “Dr. Keegan Beca SVC Mariachi ". 

Mariachi juega con Mariachi Sol de México
Otra oportunidad para apoyar al grupo MV Mariachi es durante el evento Mariachi Sol de México donde el Mariachi de Mount Vernon tocará con Mariachi Sol de México. Esto está programado para el martes 14 de diciembre en el Seattle Neptune Theatre. Para obtener más información haga clic AQUI.
