NCTA Students getting creative
During my visit to NCTA this week, I had a chance to connect with Skagit Acaddemy Senior and NCTA student, Danny Connell.  Danny, who is part of NCTA's Video Game Development class, created an augmented reality app that he plans to share during next week’s See Yourself Here event.  Danny, along with other students at NCTA, will be part of the See Yourself Here event that is meant to give students from area districts an opportunity to visit two of the programs offered at NCTA.  These events are happening on Wednesday, February 15th (Anacortes location) and Thursday, February 16th (Mount Vernon location). Danny’s app will be accessible by scanning a QR code on any mobile devices. Great job Danny, and all of the NCTA students!  I am sharing a photo of Danny debuting his app to me during my visit. 

NCTA featured in Core Plus 2021-22 Annual Report
The NCTA Core Plus Maritime program was featured in the Core Plus 2021-22 Annual Report from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, Manufacturing Industrial Council, AGC Education Foundation, and The Boeing Company!  NCTA has several Core Plus programs and our staff are making a difference in the lives of our students and community!  You can find the Annual Report HERE. 
 
Shout Outs:

• Congrats to Quinn Brown, LME fifth grader on her success in the Elk's Hoop Shoot! In October she won both her school and the local 10-11 year old competitions for girls. On January 29th she went to Seattle Pacific University and competed in the District Competition and won 1st place, making 19 of her 25 free throws! After winning the district competition, she moved on to the State Competition February 4th at Saint Martin University in Lacy, WA. The Elks paid for two nights at a nice hotel for Quinn and her family, they offered food at a celebratory reception and even provided gas money. Quinn took 3rd Place making 13 of her 25 free throws!  Way to go Quinn!  
• MVHS Boys Basketball had a great win over Oak Harbor last night. They advance to their next playoff game this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Monroe. Tomorrow’s district game will start the double elimination tournament. Go Bulldogs!! 
• Boys swim district finals are tomorrow. This event will determine if they make it to state.  Great job swim team!
• Regionals for boys and girls wrestling is tomorrow as well.  This event will also determine if they make it to state. Way to go boys and girls wrestling teams! 
• This week we celebrated National School Counselors Week. We had great responses to our social media posts about the wonderful teams at each building. I hope you get a chance to read the comments of appreciation to our amazing Counselors. You can find our Facebook page HERE.

Los estudiantes de NCTA se vuelven creativos
Durante mi visita a NCTA esta semana, tuve la oportunidad de conectarme con Skagit Acaddemy estudiante de NCTA, Danny Connell. Danny, quien es parte de la clase de Desarrollo de Videojuegos de NCTA, creó una aplicación de realidad aumentada que planea compartir durante el evento See Yourself Here de la próxima semana. Danny, junto con otros estudiantes de NCTA, será parte del evento See Yourself Here que tiene como objetivo brindarles a los estudiantes de los distritos del área la oportunidad de visitar dos de los programas que se ofrecen en NCTA. Estos eventos tendrán lugar el miércoles 15 de febrero (ubicación de Anacortes) y el jueves 16 de febrero (ubicación de Mount Vernon). Se podrá acceder a la aplicación de Danny escaneando un código QR en cualquier dispositivo móvil. ¡Buen trabajo Danny y todos los estudiantes de NCTA! 

NCTA aparece en el Informe anual Core Plus 2021-22
¡El programa NCTA Core Plus Maritime se presentó en el Informe anual Core Plus 2021-22 de la Oficina del Superintendente de Instrucción Pública, el Consejo Industrial de Manufactura, la Fundación Educativa AGC y The Boeing Company! ¡NCTA tiene varios programas Core Plus y nuestro personal está marcando una diferencia en la vida de nuestros estudiantes y la comunidad! • ¡Felicitaciones a Quinn Brown, estudiante de quinto grado de LME por su éxito en Elk's Hoop Shoot! En octubre ganó los concursos para niñas de 10-11 años tanto de su escuela como locales. El 29 de enero fue a la Universidad Seattle Pacific y compitió en la Competencia del Distrito y ganó el 1er lugar, ¡encestando 19 de sus 25 tiros libres! Después de ganar la competencia del distrito, pasó a la competencia estatal el 4 de febrero en la Universidad de Saint Martin en Lacy, WA. Los Elks pagaron dos noches en un buen hotel para Quinn y su familia, ofrecieron comida en una recepción de celebración e incluso proporcionaron dinero para la gasolina. ¡Quinn obtuvo el 3.er lugar al anotar 13 de sus 25 tiros libres! ¡Así se hace Quinn!
• MVHS Boys Basketball tuvo una gran victoria sobre Oak Harbor anoche. Avanzan a su próximo partido de playoffs este sábado a las 7 de la noche. en Monroe. El juego distrital de mañana dará comienzo al torneo de doble eliminación. ¡¡Vamos Bulldogs!!
• Las finales distritales de natación masculina son mañana. Este evento determinará si llegan al estado. ¡Buen trabajo equipo de natación!
• Las regionales de lucha libre masculina y femenina también son mañana. Este evento también determinará si llegan al estado. ¡Así se hacen los equipos de lucha libre de niños y niñas!
• Esta semana celebramos la Semana Nacional de los Consejeros Escolares. Tuvimos excelentes respuestas a nuestras publicaciones en las redes sociales sobre los maravillosos equipos en cada edificio.
