MVHS Mariachi and Folklorico
This past Friday the MVHS hosted the Winter Mariachi Festival. Mariachi and Folklorico students performed to a full house! During this event, former Superintendent Dr. Bruner and I presented a posts-secondary scholarship to two students. I am honored to be part of this annual event, and excited to see our students working towards their future goals.
Lexi Saldivar was the recipient of the Dr. Ismael Vivanco Scholarship. Lexi Saldivar is a senior in the MV Folklorico and tells us in her Scholarship Application ”After participating in the Mariachi program, I finally felt proud to be a Latino and I wanted to learn more about my culture...” Congratulations Lexi.
Yareli Barrera is the recipient of the Dr. Bruner Scholarship. Here is what Yareli had to say, “The MV Mariachi/Folklorico program has impacted my life since I’ve devoted my time to dancing in the MV Folklorico & have recently begun singing in the MV Mariachi, I’ve learned to understand my culture a lot more & embrace it by being in these programs”. Mountain Peak@Aspire
The Mountain Peak@Aspire is a small Retail Store designed and run by the Aspire Academy CTE Retail Students. Custom wear is designed by students for purchase by students and families. The Mountain Peak@Aspire was created by the generous donation of the Mount Vernon Public Schools Foundation. If you would like to stop by and check out what items are available you can do so from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Shout Outs:
LaVenture Middle School and Mount Baker Middle School hosted their Winter Choir Concert at the MVHS auditorium. Students did an amazing job and they had a great turnout!
Congratulations to the MVHS Debaters who brought home trophies from the Bellevue tournament this past weekend
Parent Academy-A big shoutout to all of the staff who helped with the Parent Academy event. Thank you Parent Academy Planning Committee, Building Liaisons, Para's, MVSD Social Workers, MVHS Counselors, Custodial, Food Services, technology, and Directors! The event was a great success!
Downtown Association Holiday Parade-if you had a chance to participate in this year’s Holiday Parade, thank you! We had many staff who were part of this year’s event. Thank you to the Band, Mariachi, and Folklocico students and staff who participated in this event as well.

Once it has been processed through the board, we will share this with staff. This will occur in mid to late January 2023.

MVHS Mariachi y Folklórico
El viernes pasado, el MVHS organizó el Festival de Invierno de Mariachi. ¡Los estudiantes de Mariachi y Folklorico se presentaron ante una casa llena! Durante este evento, el ex superintendente Dr. Bruner y yo entregamos una beca postsecundaria a dos estudiantes. Me siento honrado de ser parte de este evento anual y emocionado de ver a nuestros estudiantes trabajando hacia sus metas futuras.
Lexi Saldivar fue la beneficiaria de la Beca Dr. Ismael Vivanco. Lexi Saldivar es senior en el MV Folklórico y nos cuenta en su Solicitud de Beca “Después de participar en el programa de Mariachi, finalmente me sentí orgullosa de ser latina y quise aprender más sobre mi cultura…” Felicidades Lexi.
Yareli Barrera es la ganadora de la Beca Dr. Bruner. Esto es lo que dijo Yareli: “El programa MV Mariachi/Folklórico ha impactado mi vida desde que dediqué mi tiempo a bailar en el MV Folklórico y recientemente comencé a cantar en el MV Mariachi, he aprendido a entender mi cultura. mucho más y acéptalo al estar en estos programas”. Pico de la montaña@Aspire
Mountain Peak@Aspire es una pequeña tienda minorista diseñada y administrada por los estudiantes minoristas de CTE de Aspire Academy. La ropa personalizada está diseñada por los estudiantes para que la compren los estudiantes y las familias. Mountain Peak@Aspire fue creado por la generosa donación de la Fundación de las Escuelas Públicas de Mount Vernon. Si desea pasar y ver qué artículos están disponibles, puede hacerlo de 8:00 a. m. a 11:30 a. m., los lunes, martes, jueves y viernes.

La Escuela LaVenture y la Escuela Mount Baker organizaron su Concierto de Coro de Invierno en el auditorio de MVHS. ¡Los estudiantes hicieron un trabajo increíble y tuvieron una gran participación!

Academia de Padres-Un gran agradecimiento a todo el personal que ayudó con el evento de la Academia de Padres. ¡Gracias al Comité de Planificación de la Academia de Padres, Enlaces de Construcción, Para, Trabajadores Sociales de MVSD, Consejeros de MVHS, Custodios, Servicios de Alimentos, tecnología y Directores! ¡El evento fue un gran éxito!
Desfile Navideño de la Asociación del Centro: si tuvo la oportunidad de participar en el Desfile Navideño de este año, ¡gracias! Tuvimos muchos miembros del personal que formaron parte del evento de este año. Gracias a los estudiantes y personal de Banda, Mariachi y Folklocico que también participaron en este evento.
