We had another successful week here in the district! September is School Attendance Awareness month. We are partnering with you to help bring awareness to the connection between school attendance and educational success. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s building if you are needing assistance in removing the barriers and how we can help support your student in attending school regularly.
MVHS Old Main Ribbon Cutting & Centennial Celebration
Mark your calendar for the Centennial Celebration and Ribbon Cutting at Mount Vernon High School! This special event is happening Wednesday, September 28th at 6pm, with tours beginning at 5pm. It is exciting to see the remodeled Old Main Building that was first constructed in 1922. The architects, contractors, and engineers did a terrific job of keeping the authenticity of the building’s heritage, while bringing it up to modern standards and safety. We will see you on the 28th at 6pm!
Madison Elementary School’s Dual Language program
Last week, King 5 news visited Madison Elementary in an effort to showcase the dual language program. OSPI Superintendent Chris Reykdal is working to have dual language opportunities for all students, in all districts. If you get a chance, I encourage you to watch it, and see how our students are benefiting from MVSD’s dual language programs. You can find the news segment HERE.
Senator Wellman visits LaVenture Middle School
This week Senator Wellman visited LaVenture Middle School. Although Senator Wellman is not in our Legislative District, she is the chair for the Senate Early Learning & K-12 Education Committee. During her visit to LaVenture, Senator Wellman had an opportunity to talk to our students, staff, district administrators, and NWESD Superintendent Larry Francois.
She appreciated listening to our Mount Vernon stories, about the realities, challenges, and successes in our schools and community. As the Senator and her team traveled throughout the state, they appreciated learning about our specific stories to help them develop common themes.

¡Tuvimos otra semana exitosa aquí en el distrito! Septiembre es el mes de concientización sobre la asistencia escolar. Nos asociamos con usted para ayudar a crear conciencia sobre la conexión entre la asistencia a la escuela y el éxito educativo. No dude en comunicarse con la escuela de su estudiante si necesita ayuda para eliminar las barreras y cómo podemos ayudar a su estudiante a asistir a la escuela con regularidad.
Ceremonia de gran inauguración de MVHS “Old Main” y celebración del centenario
¡Marque su calendario para la Celebración del gran inauguración y Centenario en la Escuela preparatoria de Mount Vernon! Este evento especial tendrá lugar el miércoles 28 de septiembre a las 6 p. m. Es emocionante ver el antiguo edificio principal remodelado que se construyó por primera vez en 1922. Los arquitectos, contratistas e ingenieros hicieron un excelente trabajo al mantener la autenticidad del patrimonio del edificio, al tiempo que lo adaptaron a los estándares y la seguridad modernos. ¡Nos vemos el 28 a las 6!
Programa de Lenguaje Dual de la Escuela Primaria Madison
La semana pasada, las noticias de King 5 visitaron la Primaria Madison en un esfuerzo por mostrar el programa bilingüe. El superintendente de OSPI, Chris Reykdal, está trabajando para tener oportunidades de lenguaje dual para todos los estudiantes, en todos los distritos. El Senador Wellman visita la Escuela Secundaria LaVenture
Esta semana, la Senadora Wellman visitó la Escuela Secundaria LaVenture. Aunque la Senadora Wellman no está en nuestro Distrito Legislativo, es la presidenta del Comité Senatorial de Aprendizaje Temprano y Educación K-12. Durante su visita a LaVenture, la Senadora Wellman tuvo la oportunidad de hablar con nuestros estudiantes, el personal, los administradores del distrito y el superintendente del NWESD, Larry Francois.
Agradeció escuchar nuestras historias de Mount Vernon, sobre las realidades, desafíos y éxitos en nuestras escuelas y comunidad. Mientras la Senadora y su equipo viajaron por todo el estado, apreciaron aprender sobre nuestras historias específicas para ayudarlos a desarrollar temas comunes.
