Information about the TPEP process - a collaboration between MVSD and MVEA:
Update 1-10-2012: At yesterday's TPEP meeting at the ESD the consortium districts, of which Mount Vernon is a part, voted to narrow the 3 instructional frameworks to 2: Danielson's Instructional Framework and Marzano's framework. The next step is for the Mount Vernon School District and MVEA to decide between these two frameworks to develop a rubric for our teacher evaluation system. More to come.
An outline of the process:
•Steering committee for Mount Vernon (a subgroup of our larger district committee) meets with a consortium of 4 other districts through the Northwest ESD 189 to look at the RCW 28A.405.100 (commonly known as Senate Bill 6696) and begin work on implementation of the law with funding help from the Regional Implementation Grant by looking at 3 possible instructional frameworks on which to build an evaluation system and narrowing the choice to 2.
•Larger district committee selects an instructional framework to be used by the Mount Vernon School District.
•Use the instructional framework chosen by our committee to develop indicators for the 8 teacher evaluation criteria set forth by the law.
•Finalize the new evaluation system for the Mount Vernon School District.
•Pilot the new system during the 2012-13 school year.
