2008-2009 CERTIFCATED APPLICANT POOL NOW OPEN!
The Mount Vernon School District has opened the Certificated Applicant Pool for the 2008-2009 school year. Applicants who completed a certificated application in 2007 or current substitutes may use the 2008 Certificated Update Form.

Note the changes in the application process this year:
1. Provide a 1-2 page statement describing how your strengths, background and experience align with the criteria we seek in teachers for the MVSD (prepare on a separate sheet).
2. Be specific and rank your assignment preferences from highest to lowest on the application.  Files will be reviewed for positions based on the information you provide in this section.

MVSD APPLICATION PROCESS
It is Mount Vernon School District policy to accept applications only for specific postings and during the open application periods for the MVSD Certificated Pool for elementary and middle schools. All job vacancies in our school district are advertised on our district website by following the appropriate links to the Employment section. In addition, you may telephone the MVSD Job Line at (360) 428-6190 to hear the listing of job vacancies. All application materials may be downloaded from our website or you may contact our receptionist, Ms. Pacheco at (360) 428-6110 to request an application be mailed to you.

Applications are retained for two years. If we have a completed application on file, you only need to submit a letter of interest listing the specific posting number and any other information you want considered since submitting your original application to satisfactorily apply for a job vacancy. After two years, the application is purged from our system. You will need to resubmit a completed application packet the next time you apply for a job vacancy.

Job vacancies that do not list a closing date is an indicator that a specific time line has not yet been determined to review applications and interview candidates. In these cases, applications will be reviewed periodically as they are received. The interview/selection process will begin when it is determined that sufficient qualified applications are received. It is strongly recommended that you submit an application as soon as possible when applying for these job vacancies to ensure your application will be part of the reviewed applicant pool.

On occasion, the school district will seek to fill a vacancy and advertised it as "In-District Job Opening". When such a vacancy occurs, the applicant pool is restricted to current MVSD employees only.

Please feel free to contact Alexia Bautista, Certificated Specialist in the MVSD Personnel and Human Resource Department. Alexia facilitates the application process and can answer your questions regarding your application and job vacancies.

Their website also provides information regarding the teaching certification process.
