The role of AVID is to harness the boundless possibilities of the future that are the ingenuity and talent being fostered among our students today.

Educational equity is the urgent test of the 21st century. College is no longer a place only for the privileged few. Resources for college readiness remain unattainable for many students, particularly those from families without a college-going tradition.

Financial Support

You can move us forward, change the lives of our students and help create a future of boundless possibilities with your donation today. Your financial support will make an incalculable difference in the lives of our students - it begins first with providing for their educational tools. Giving to the AVID program will provide students with the academic rigor and supportive classroom environment that is needed to advance their full potential.

Some examples of what you financial support could be used for are:

·         Field Trips: visiting our state colleges and businesses

·         Supplies for our rigorous curriculum

·         College Application Fees: many students are prohibited for apply to college due to the application fee.

·         Specialty Summer Camps: Things like Astronaut Camp and other areas of interest would be a wonderful way to encourage students to explore college and career possibilities in their future

Volunteer

There are several ways the Avid could use volunteers in our program.  Your knowledge and experiences are priceless gifts that will benefit students throughout their lives.

·         Guest Speakers: Serve as a guest speaker in an AVID classroom to share the important role that education has played in your career. For example, business leaders can come directly into high school classrooms to illustrate the value of interpersonal skills in a workplace setting through role-playing, discussions and mock interviews. Volunteers can share their industries and what it takes to be a success.

·         Tutors: College students and others who have graduated from college, serve as small group facilitators during higher level group work called tutorial. Tutors are trained in the AVID approach to leading students through problem solving. 

·         Special Talents: Are you great at preparing resumes or want to share other talents that would benefit the AVID students? We welcome you to contact us to share your talent with the students.
