The Lincoln PTA has begun its annual beginning-of-the-year fundraiser with a kick-off assembly.  Lincoln students all went home motivated to sell lots of cookie dough, gift wrap, gourmet candies and snacks and magazine subscriptions--something for everyone!

The students were encouraged to sell only to those they know, family, relatives and friends, unless an adult accompanies them.

Lots of prizes are available to those who sell items, (see photo above) but the real winners will be Lincoln students who benefit from all the money the PTA hopes to raise for fieldtrips, assemblies, technology and lots of other things our school needs.

So help out and sell, sell, sell!  

Children's author and Illustrator Daniel Kirk visited with the students at Lincoln on Thursday, September 25th.  He spoke to students at a 9:30 am assembly in the Lincoln Auditorium.

He talked about his books and sang some of his songs. He explained how he creates his characters and why he loves to write.

Mr. Kirk will present a free program at the downtown Mount Vernon Lincoln Theater on Saturday, September 27th.

Mr. Kirk's books include  Bigger, Breakfast at the Liberty Diner, Lucky's 24 Hour Garage and many many more.

Mount Vernon teachers spent two days in late August at inservices designed to introduce us to our new K-5 math curriculum--Investigations in Numbers, Data and Space. Lincoln teachers have begun teaching and students learning with this new curriculum.  If you have any questions regarding the curriculum please contact your child's teacher or the school.
