In sponsorship with the Washington Public School Employees Joint Apprenticeship/Training Council and the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries, the District offers apprenticeship programs for numerous classified positions. The Apprenticeship program is a structured program of on-the-job training and related classroom instruction to help increase the skill level of employees and provide employers with a pool of well-trained personnel with job specific skills. This program requires employees to have or be working towards 2000 hours of on-the-job experience and also includes a minimum of 144 clock hours or 15 credits of classroom instruction per year. In cooperation with Skagit Valley College, the employee will received a reduced tuition fee and upon completion of the program, per the collective bargaining agreement, the employee will receive a 0.50 per hour increase.
