Notification of Early Kindergarten Entry Screenings
The Mount Vernon School District is scheduling appointments for screening for entry to kindergarten for children who turn five years old after August 31. If your child turns five years old between September 1 and October 15 and you feel s/he is ready for kindergarten, you must call the Special Services office at 428-6141 by June 1 of this year to make arrangements for the required testing procedures.
If your child turns five years old by August 31, then s/he is able to attend kindergarten next school year without a screening and you should call your area elementary school to get information about registering your child. For a link to the district's elementary schools, please click here.

Medications
Students who require ANY medication (including over-the-counter drugs such as Tylenol, ibuprofen, etc.) during school must have turned in a district authorization form for the medication that has been signed by BOTH parent and physician. Authorization forms are available in the school office.  The parent or legal guardian must bring the medication and completed authorization forms to the school. Medication must be supplied in the original prescription container and properly labeled with the child's name. All medication must be kept in the office and will be administered by trained school staff.


 


Absence?
If your child is going to be absent for any reason, please call the school every day they will be absent and leave a message. Our message line (360)428-6138 is open 24 hours.
We will call your home and/or emergency contacts if we do not receive a phone call from you each day that your child is absent
.
If your child will not be in school or arriving late, please call the school office to leave a message. (360)428-6138.
